It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Pav with the fam, beers on the beach, maybe just one more rum ball… then the calendar flips and reality hits. Hard.
Look, you’re already pretty perfect, but there’s no harm in eating a little better, slimming down, bulking up, toning, trimming, tanning…
If your resolution is to look good and feel even better, here are four small things you can start doing now to keep those #SummerGoals going strong all year long!
1. Drink lots of water
Could drinking more water really be the key to a toned, tight bod?
The simple act of drinking water has a long list of health benefits, from keeping your digestive system ticking along to helping you burn up to 400 extra kilojoules per day – that’s one serve of Cranberry Super-Bites!
Truth is, most of us aren’t properly hydrated. If our hunger signals are distress flares, hydration signals are sparklers.
You should be aiming to drink 1-1.5L of water a day, plus an extra 500ml-1L for every hour of exercise. Treat your water bottle like your phone and never let it go!
2. Don’t skip breakfast
It’s the most important meal of the… okay, you know where we’re going with this.
If you struggle in the mornings, look at what’s on your plate (or not on it). You’re basically fasting while you’re asleep, so it’s only natural your bod is looking for fuel when it wakes up!
Get those energy levels up with a low-carb, high-fat breakfast: eggs, avo, oats, and even wholegrain toast with PB are all A+ options.
Not a breakfast eater? Consider giving your metabolism a morning start with a smoothie or protein shake. Chocolate for breakfast, anyone?
3. Plan your meals
Failing to plan is planning to fail #Truth
Don’t underestimate the power of planning. It’s not about OTT organisation; it’s about removing temptation!
How many times have you ducked through the drive-through or opted for UberEATS because there’s ‘nothing for dinner’?
Hate the idea of meal prep? Leave it to the professionals and get fresh, healthy meals delivered for the week.
Better yet, create a personalised meal plan so you know you’re getting food you’ll be excited to eat instead of a sad, tasteless, frozen letdown.
4. Do exercise you enjoy
Can’t stand cardio but your gym sessions are all about the treadmill? No wonder you’re avoiding stretching into your LJ!
Don’t set yourself up for failure. If you find a workout you actually enjoy, you’ll be more likely to stick to it. That’s just science.
Mix it up with different activities like high-intensity circuits, resistance training, hot yoga, or barre pilates. Trust us: you’ll work tiny muscles you never even knew you had!
