So, you’re struggling to keep up with all the new features on Facebook and Instagram and then Snapchat gets dropped on you like a tonne of bricks. Insert mad googling - how to Snap like a pro.
Snapchat is actually pretty intuitive and is ready to start creating content as soon as you open it up. When you open the app the camera is automatically activated, clicking on the three circles to the bottom right will give you access to everyone’s stories (think of this as everyone’s timeline) then the little speech bubble to the left will take you to your chat section, this is where you can contact people directly via text, photos or video. The big round circle in the middle is going to start capturing your images or video – but also acts as a home button if you’re in another screen. If you want some of those good filter feels, tap your finger on your face when you see your reflection on the screen - you’re half way there my friend.
Hold your finger down on the circle to record a video or tap it to take a photo. If you want to add some effects like emojis, text or draw little doodles (not literally) over the top of your picture, you can do that with the top right icon menu. To check out your own stories or save memories, click the little circle icon of your face (bottom middle) if you want to edit your profile details or photo hit the Snapchat icon.
One of the benefits of Snap is that everything disappears, photos, videos and chats – everything. Which is why it was so popular for people to be slightly more adventurous should we say, when the platform first hit the streets. Today Snap is used to capture your daily doings in a light-hearted way, and is really designed to consume content in a way we already do – see it for 24 hours and then forgot it.
